Hourly Home Care Services

This is for clients who need short visits and help occasionally throughout the day, or night, but not continuously. We will visit you in your home to discuss your needs prior to placing a care assistant with you. A Service User Care Assessment and Care Plan is produced through consultation with each client to ensure we gather accurate information about care needs, wishes, preferences and personal goals.

See our dedicated website:  www.sunshinecare.co.uk

Our Services

There may be many reasons why you are looking at care and support options. You may be looking for a friend, family member or yourself. You may find that a little support is needed with those tasks that are becoming more difficult, or because of restricted mobility through an accident or illness. It  may be that you need a companion and a housekeeper.

Your needs may be short term: convalescent, respite or holiday care for example; or you may need longer term care and support.

Sunshine Care is a service provided primarily for people who are chronically ill or those with a physical disability or learning difficulties. The service allows you or your loved one to have the same specialist care in your home as you would in a residential home.

We are able to care for those suffering from short-term memory loss or with physical problems that have difficulty getting around.

We can also care for younger members of the community who may have special care needs. This depends upon the nature of their needs and on the abilities of the care workers available.

Sunshine Care is also able to provide support to your present carer, who may be a member of your family, to enable them to have a short break or holiday.

Palliative Care

Sunshine Home Care provides compassionate care for those with a chronic or and terminal illness which is no longer responding to treatment. Our specially trained care staff use active care methods to improve pain control and quality of life. We promote and support End of Life Care which incorporates the Liverpool Care Pathway, a nationally recognised plan of care to ensure best practice in the care of those who are dying.

Staff work closely with family, friends and carers to give them personal support throughout the resident's illness and into bereavement. Our services often form part of the local community palliative care service, working alongside local GP practices, community nurses and other support groups such as Macmillan cancer support services and Marie Curie.

Personal Care

Your carer can provide you with a great deal of help with your personal care needs.
If you need help getting up in the morning, going to bed at night, washing, dressing and undressing, going to the bathroom or making your bed, he or she can help.

Help with Medication

Your carer can also assist you in taking your own medication, providing it has been prescribed for you by your GP.  This is of course subject to certain limitations.

Meal Preparation

Your carer can help you prepare your meals: breakfast, mid-day meal, evening meal or supper, as well as snacks and drinks you may need during the day or he or she can prepare them for you. If you would like your carer to keep you company whilst you eat you meal this can also be arranged.

Domestic and Home help

If you need help with light domestic tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, house cleaning, washing up and personal laundry, again your carer can help you with this.  He or she can also assist with managing your fuel supplies and light gardening duties. This is subject to certain restrictions.

Personal affairs

Managing your personal affairs, such as birthdays and other anniversaries, collecting your pension and preparing shopping lists can be difficult but these matters can also be the responsibility of your carer, with your permission.

Pets

Sometimes pets can be very demanding, so feeding and exercising them can be difficult. If required your carer can also do this for you.

Other services

Hospital appointment companionship
Accompanied holiday companions
Trips to local places of interest
Social Outings

Assistance getting ready for the day

If you are finding it increasingly demanding getting up and ready for the day, we can provide experienced, compassionate staff to provide a little extra assistance. Booked at reasonable times, our staff will help you out of bed, assist you with washing and dressing to make sure that you are not over-tired when starting the day.

Assistance at Bedtimes

Also, if getting prepared and into bed at night becomes increasingly difficult, we can provide supportive help at reasonable times to suit you.

People in the following community care groups may receive home care services:

Older people and those with dementia
People who have physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments
People who have mental health problems
People who have learning disabilities

Home Care services are requested and provided through an assessment by our Care Assessment Teams.

Some people may also be eligible for Direct Payments to purchase their own service, and we can signpost you to those who can provide information about this.

See examples of domiciliary clients below:

Mrs J is 62 years old and lives alone. She is recovering from a stroke and has left-sided weakness. We help her first thing in the morning and last thing at night, seven days a week, with washing and dressing. She has meals on wheels. This care is on-going.
Mr B is 41 years old and lives alone. He is left-handed and has a broken left wrist; he is unable to cope right-handed. Our carers visit him 3 times a day to help with general living and food preparation, but not with his cooking as he enjoys doing this himself. This is just for a few weeks until his wrist has healed.
