ROLE OF A PERSONAL ASSISTANT

The role of the PA is to work on a live-in basis with our elderly and physically disabled clients, assisting them with everyday tasks. Personal care assistant jobs usually last between four and six weeks, ( though this period can be extended), and the care work may include getting the client in and out of bed, toileting, washing, dressing, personal care, cooking, cleaning, shopping and general household tasks. It may also be necessary to drive the care service user’s vehicle and accompany them to work, social events, appointments or even on holiday. For more detail on the PA role and care work with Sunshine Care Agency please read our care job descriptions.

Sunshine Care Agency provides comprehensive care work training, so no previous experience of care work is necessary, although it is essential to have the desire to be involved in a truly rewarding and socially minded career.  There are also opportunities to study towards formal qualifications in care work leading to opportunities to apply for more senior care assistant jobs.

Working as a PA for Sunshine Care Agency, you can expect:

  • Free food and accommodation whilst working.
  • Recommended starting pay up to £490 per week
  • Free uniform and Induction Training
  • Recommended paid holiday, equivalent to 1 day for every 11 days worked.
  • Opportunities for UK and overseas travel.
  • Subsidised care worker accommodation between assignments.
  • Opportunities to free fully funded study towards an NVQ in Health and Social Care
